Aug. 16, 1906 news:
At the home of Thomas Davis, east of town, a sad accident happened on Sunday evening, where by his young son, 5 yrs. old, lost his life while other members of the family were absent from the house doing chores. The little guy took a loaded gun down from the rack, and was playing with it, when the gun discharged entering his bowel and lacerating one of his hands. The little fellow lived about 5 hours, telling his father he was dying. The child's mother died a little over a year ago, Funeral services were held Monday, conducted by Rev. E.R. Keller, burial was at Oak Hill cemetery.
