PETER A. LAURENZI
Peter A. Laurenzi, 85, a retired carpenter, died Thursday (March 15, 2001) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
Laurenzi, a Niagara Falls resident from 1936 to 1993, was known as "Pennsey Pete" in honor of his birth in Old Forge, Pa.
During the 1930s, Laurenzi was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later became a carpenter, employed by various contractors through Carpenters Local 280. He retired in 1977.
After his retirement, Laurenzi volunteered as a maintenance man at Sacred Heart Villa School.
He was a handyman and enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Mary D. Cusumano; his son Philip of Youngstown; his daughter Ann Marie Reele of Niagara Falls; his sister Norma Viscomi of Niagara Falls; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 620 Center St., after prayers at 9:15 in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St., Niagara Falls.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
