Richard B. Unrein, 72, 1505 W. 12th, died Tuesday, April 20, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Hays to Frank P. and Amelia (Zimmerman) Unrein. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He married Billie Ruth Reed in Denver. He was the owner and operator of many businesses in Hays. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW and American Legion, all of Hays.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald D. Goates, Alachua, Fla., and Richard Scott Unrein, Arvada, Colo.; two daughters, Victoria Laine Dugan, San Jose, Calif., and Susan Renee Alter, Corpus Christi, Texas; two brothers, Robert, Brighton, Colo., and Frank, Phoenix; a sister, Sophia Cerraghino, Vancouver, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, with Father Michael Suchnicki officiating; burial at a later date in Brighton, Colo. Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Hays or the Hospice of Hays Medical Center.
