CARROLL, ALMA - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Beryl Evelyn Alma (Denton) Carroll. Born May 4, 1925 in Steventon Hants, England. Alma was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Henry Carroll, as well her son Robert Carroll and daughter Patricia Ann Carroll. In addition Alma was predeceased by her brothers Norman, Robin, Brian, Percy, Roy and sister Gwen. Alma joined the CWAC in 1943 and served in England during WWII. She worked as a seamstress for Dalmy’s in Fredericton and Saint John. She then worked the lunch counter at Woolworths until she retired in 1986. Alma is survived by her daughter Ruth-Carroll (Timothy Taylor) and chosen daughter Cynthia Ann Shields (nee Miles) (Gerry), as well as her son Kenneth Carroll (Sandra). Alma is also survived by four grandchildren, Leanne, Erin, Kadlyn and Scott: six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). By request there will be no visitation. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road in Quispamsis, at 10am on Thursday, August 7th, with a reception to follow. Internment will take place in Grand Falls at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Alma to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
