Lois T. Abernathy, 95, and long-time resident of Pocatello, passed away September 23, 2015 at a local care facility due to causes incident to age.Lois was born December 19, 1919 in Stoddard County, Missouri to Chester and Dolly Stewart Abernathy. He was the oldest of nine children.Lois married Cora "Jean" Toombs on December 20, 1944. Jean was the love of his life and constant companion until her death in 2005. Lois and Jean owned and operated Alameda Garage from 1958 to 1972 and the Howell Motel from 1972 until retirement in the mid-1980s. Lois is survived by his children; Linda (Rick) Aslett, Ruth (Ray) Ogle, and Kevin (Stephanie) Abernathy. He is also survived by his sister, Jeri Berggen, seven grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.Services will be Friday, October 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Internment will be at the Mountain View Cemetary, section 50 west.
