"In loving memory of Arnulf Montgomery, 2nd Lt. Connaught Rangers, killed in action at Cuinchy in France, 22nd December 1914, aged 32 years. Beloved eldest son of Major and Mrs. R. E. Montgomery. Unto the place from when the rivers come then they return again" Lieutenant Montgomery was a nephew of the rector of the Parish the Reverend J. C. Montgomery.
