RAYMOND COLBY BURROWS

Last rites were conducted on Sunday afternoon in the Hastings-Pearson Mortuary for Raymond Colby Burrows, who died on Thursday, July 2. Rev. Charles Wantz of York was the clergyman. Mrs. Mark Tolen as soloist sang,"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Goin Home", accompanied by Mrs. Orin Kellison. Bearers were Gust Foth, Jr., Archie Mason, Ross Leonard, Lee Footwangler, Joseph Bonne and Adolph Nevrivry. Interment was made in the Ord City Cemetery, with the Hastings-Pearson Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond Colby Burrows, eldest son of Smith P. and Emily Burrows was born in Richmond, Ill., July 26, 1878. The family moved to Valley County in 1880 and homesteaded the farm six miles south west of Ord. June 24th of this year marked the 50 anniversary of his marriage to Edna Rogers, eldest daughter of John C. Rogers in whose home the ceremony was performed.

Left to morn are four sons and a daughter, Raymond LaVerne of York; Roger Edward of North Loup; John Woodrow of Parkdale, Colo.; Richard Dale of Ord; and Mrs Evelyn Jensen of Spokane. A daughter, Nima Emily died at the age of 8 years; also two brothers, Guy E. of Ord, and John S. of Herminston, Ore., and 11 grandchildren and 3 great grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. Burrows were members of the Vinton Methodist Church and transferred to the Midvale U.B. Church where they were faithful and active members until Mrs. Burrows' prolonged illness. She passed away Dec. 9, 1950
