Mrs. Doris Etta North Bell Barrett, age 88 of Sandy Springs, Ga died September 25, 2015. Doris was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church, the Dorothy Benson Center, and was a long time employee with the Internal Revenue Service. Her hobbies and passions included crafts, watercolor painting, gardening, clay sculpting, and traveling.

She is survived by her daughter Gwen Bell Darby and her husband Rick; sons Otis C. Bell, Jr. and his wife Cindy, and Greg Bell and his wife Nancy. Survivors also include grandchildren, Kelly Darby, Ashley Bell Sailors and her husband Drew, and Casey Bell. She also is survived by two great-granddaughters: Reagan and Chandler Sailors. Her surviving sisters are Jauineta Nida, Allene Eldridge, Geraldine Glaccum, and Linda Bennett. Her surviving brothers are Lewis North, Kermit North, and Larry North. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to her niece Debbie Bell, Kadan Home Health Services, and Halcyon Hospice for their loving and tender care of Doris Barrett.

Doris will be missed by her family who knew the kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister that she was. One of 14 children, she was child number 3 and, as such, helped raise many of the later ones. Doris grew up during the Depression on a farm where many chores took precedence over fun, enjoyment, and even school homework. Doris knew what hard work was, and she knew how to make a nickel stretch.

Doris outlived two husbands and raised three children on her own. She enjoyed traveling throughout the USA, Canada, Alaska, and Sweden where her grand-daughter Kelly lived in 2013. She enjoyed sharing pictures on her Nexus computer tablet of her Swedish trip.

Doris enjoyed life, her family, and her many friends. She will be missed greatly, but we know she is now with her well-loved friends and family in Heaven. They must be having a great time showing her around.

Doris N Bell Barrett is actually buried at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs where she lived for many years. She had lived in Sandy Springs since 1959. Her second husband and Doris used to attend Easter Sunrise Service at the Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery where a beautiful service is held coming up over a Crypt and Hill making the service quite moving.

A second marker or plaque has confused some people since there is a marker plaque at Melrose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, New Georgia, Paulding County, Georgia, where her first husband Otis Calvin Bell, is buried. The Melrose Hills Memorial Park plaque was put in place in 1981 when her first husband, Otis C. Bell Sr. was buried. This was far away from where the family lived and grown up.
