Melba Cook Clark, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 27, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical with her husband of 73 years holding her hand and surrounded by her family.

Melba was born December 29, 1923, in Bountiful, UT, to Joseph Amos Cook and Martha Myrtle Kynaston Cook. She grew up and attended schools in Ammon.

On January 1, 1942, she married Frank Jesse Clark in Idaho Falls, the marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on January 12, 1988. To this union were born 3 children, Jessica, Frank Norris and Sue. Melba and Frank lived in Utah and Montana before settling in Idaho Falls. Melba worked as a nurse for 7 years on all floors at the LDS Hospital and 3 years at the District 7 Home Health. She loved nursing and helping people. Her and her sister also started a painting company for 5 years, they had a lot of fun working together. She also attended bid openings for her husband’s Company, Clark Brother Construction and enjoyed the traveling to the various locations. Melba kept photo albums of every project of Clark Brothers Construction from start to finish as well as albums for all her children and grandchildren, they will always look at them and remember.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a primary teacher and as a scout leader. Melba and Frank were called to serve a mission at the Idaho Falls Temple Visitors Center in February of 1993. Melba and Frank also served a mission in Bismarck, ND, and oversaw the construction of the temple, November of 1998 through May of 2000.

Melba enjoyed the Top 10 Woman’s Club, they had a great deal of fun meeting every month and celebrating events together. She loved traveling and square dancing. Melba and Frank enjoyed working together to build their 3 homes and a cabin in Island Park.

Melba is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Frank J Clark;
daughter, Jessica (Larry) St. John of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Sue (Dennis Bates) Clark of Idaho Falls, ID;
sister, Maxine Fabre of UT;
9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Frank Norris Clark, her parents, Joseph Amos Cook and Martha Myrtle Cook, 4 brothers, 3 sisters.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
