A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Berean Church in Columbus with the Rev. Will Sanborn officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery in Genoa. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 1-2 p.m. Friday with a 1:45 p.m. family prayer service at the church.
June was born June 15, 1922, in Silver Creek to James and Edith (Palfrey) Kershaw. She grew up in Silver Creek and graduated from Silver Creek High School. She went on to get her teacher's certificate and taught for a year at Prairie Island School. On Aug. 15, 1942, June was united in marriage to Allen D. Irish at the Air Force Chapel at Chanute Air Field in Champaign, Illinois. After Allen was discharged from the service, they moved to Genoa. June was a devoted wife and mother to their three children, Cheryl, Robert and Phyllis. They resided in Genoa until 1980 when they moved to Columbus.
June is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Ron) Greenwall of Columbus and Phyllis (Stan) Schiermann of Waverly; son, Robert (Kathy) Irish of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and brother, Eugene (Vickie) Kershaw of Silver Creek.
June was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edith Kershaw; husband, Allen Irish; brother, Bruce Kershaw; sisters, Margaret Johnson and Berniece Jones; and daughter-in-law, Lynda Sue (Collins) Irish.
