Lawrence Paul Adams, 84, of Parkersburg, passed away on Sept. 29, 2015 at his residence.

He was born April 26, 1931, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Agnes Bruney and Ray Adams.

Paul was a 1950 graduate of Belpre High School and worked for 40 years at the Columbus Citizen and Columbus Dispatch Newspaper in Columbus, Ohio. He also worked at the Eagle Gazette Newspaper in Lancaster, Ohio. He was foreman of the Stereo Department at the Dispatch, secretary of the Stereo Department, and secretary of the Printcraft Bowling League. He was active in sports, basketball and track for Belpre, and played basketball, softball and bowled for Citizen and Dispatch. He owned Adams Limosine Service in Circleville, Ohio and was owner of Shady Inn Inc. of Columbus, Ohio. He was a member of Wolf's 25 Year Club Columbus, former member of Parkersburg Eagles, member of Masonic Lodge of Belpre #609, member of Moose Lodge #1118 Parkersburg. While residing in Springhill, Fla. he was president of the Men's Luncheon at the Masonic Lodge. Paul was a former member of First Congregational Church in Belpre where he served as a Deacon and Trustee and was member of Calvary Memorial Church. He was an avid Ohio State fan.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Sue King Jones Rutherford Adams; one sister, Betty Adams Donahue Hutchinson (Gene); nine children, David Ronald Adams (Sandy), Debra Stewart (Ed), Tina Adams, Denise Johnson, Paul Adams (Dottie), Vicky Pickins (Tom), Doris Adams Stover (Rick), all of Columbus, Cherie Stuart (Mike) of Springhill, Fla. and Lisa Germick (Tod); five stepsons, Steve Jones (Tina) of Columbus, Stan Jones of Texas, Chuck Jones (Missy) of Vienna, W.Va., Dan Rutherford and Sam Rutherford (Pam), both of Parkersburg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two loving and caring nieces, Carol Winegar and Barbara Reichard (Paul).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives, Marie Tilly Adams, Hilda Binns Adams, and Katrina Gaines Adams; sister, Christine; brother, Junior; sister, Lois Plummer (Ray); infant twin sister and brother.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Calvary Memorial Church with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Interment will follow at the Rockland Cemetery in Belpre.
