Professional Football Player. Benecick starred as an offensive lineman for the Canadian Football League's Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1959 to 1968. He played football at Syracuse University and went to Canada to join Saskatchewan after graduation and being drafted by the National Football League's Philadelphia Eagles in the 1959 draft. Benecick was a tough offensive lineman who commanded respect from friends and foes alike during his career. He played in two Grey Cup games, winning one in 1966 with the Roughriders. Benecick was also named to four All-Star teams during his career. He played for the Edmonton Eskimos in 1969 before retiring. Benecick served as line coach for the Eskimos from 1970 to 1971. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
