Mrs. L.E. Jordan Obituary
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. L.E. Jordan in the Jordan home, six miles west of Greenwood at 11 o'clock A.M., December 12, 1938. Rev. Sullivan of Greenwood officiating.
Mrs. Jorndan [sic] was born in Powhiek [sic] County, Iowa, February 2, 1871 and passed away, December 10, 1938 at her home, after a ten months illness.
She grew up to young womanhood and was united in marriage to L.E. Jordan on July 10, 1895 and lived in Bagley, Guthrie County, Iowa for seven years. They moved to South Dakota, near Armour in 1902 and in 1921 moved near Greenwood where she resided until her death.
The service at the home was plain in accordance with Mr. Jordan's request. Rev. and Mrs. Sullivan sang, "Willing to Take the Cross" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" was sung by Mrs. Hope Benson. The sermon was brief and from the text "Comfort one another with these words, Face to Face" was sung at the grave by Mrs. Benson and a poem, "I Would Not Live Always" was read.
Interment was made at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Armour.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Marion of Idaho and Theodore of Wagner; five daughters; Mrs. Ada Giles of Texas; Mrs. Violet Harrel [sic] of Wagner, S.D.; Alice of Greenwood; Mrs. Henrietta Denker of Pennsylvania and Mrs. Dolly Lawien of Timber Lake, S.D. Their youngest daughter, Ruth preceded her in death, December 29, 1924.
Mrs. Jordan was a loving mother and wife and found friends in all her acquaintances.
