Olive Ruth Orr, daughter of Gates Orr and Lorinda Pearce was born in Mt. Erie, Wayne Co., IL. She first married Melvil D. Strait, who died in 1890 and is buried in the Conway Springs, KS cemetery. She then married in 1894, her first cousin Lane Winans Brock, son of her father's sister Susan. Ruth and L. W. lived in Owasco, Sullivan Co., MO, where his father owned a store. She died in St. Louis, MO, where she had been taken in an unsuccessful attempt to save her life from some kind of stomach ailment.

An item in the (Wellington) Monitor-Press, May 27, 1903:
L. W. Brock recently put up a first-class tombstone for his wife in Spring Hill cemetery, in the Orr locality.
