 DANVILLE, Va. -Virginia Fain Scearce, 73, of 436 Pinecrest Drive, died Tuesday,August 24, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center where she was sick for four days after six months of declining health.
 Born March 24, 1926,in Meadows of Dan, Patrick County, she was the daughter of Amos Fain and Eunice Rakes Fain. She was married September1960, to Warner Pell Scearce, who survives.She lived all herlife in Patrick County, Pittsylvania County and Danville.
 She retired from DanRiver Inc. as a receiving clerk and cloth inspector prior tobecoming department clerk in No. 5
Inspection,Schoolfield Division with 40 years of service at the time of retirement.
 She was very active in stamp collecting and was an avid reader.
 She was a member of the former Second Baptist Church of
 Danville and attended Hillcrest Baptist Church.
 In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Susan Scearce of the residence and Debbie Scearce Ingram of Danville;one son, Dan Sparrow of Blairs; three brothers, Clayton Fain of Stuart, and James Fain and Wiliam Fain, both of PatrickSprings; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by twosisters, Stella F. Mitchell and Audrey F. Rorrer. A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home and atother times at the residence.
