Mr. James Emmit Fain, age 84 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at The Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart on Sunday, April 23, 2017. He was born in Patrick County on April 18, 1933 to the late Amos Green Fain and Minnie Eunice Rakes Fain. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Dot) Fain, they are now walking hand in hand on the streets of gold and his sisters, Virginia Scearce, Stella Mitchell, and Audrey Rorrer. Mr. Fain faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle and friend. He loved his family and the simple things in life, like hunting and fishing. He will be loved and missed always.

Mr. Fain is survived by a daughter, Wanda Shough of Stuart, VA; a grandson, Jason Shough of Stuart, VA; two brothers, William Fain of Patrick Springs, VA and Clayton Fain of Stuart, VA; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services for Mr. Fain will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Kriss Foley officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in Patrick Memorial Gardens. Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard will be conducting military rites. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to PAWS, (Patrick Animal Welfare Society), P.O. Box 743, Stuart, VA 24171 or to the American Heart Association, c/o Patty Hazelwood, Memorial Gift Chairman, 1988 Wayside Road, Stuart, VA 24171.
