"SCHENEVUS ... Dora Brown was ill for only a few days, when she, too passed away. She was not considered dangerously ill until two or three days before she died. In her death we lose a loving, kind-hearted young lady. she was loved and respected by old and young alike. The funeral was largely attended at the M. E. church on Tuesday. Her fellow teachers preceded the coffin and bore a floral pillow in their arms. The alumni association, of which she had been a faithful member, presented a beautiful floral harp with a pure white dove perched upon it. Revs. Gendall and Turnbul conducted the funeral services in a very impressive manner. She had been a teacher in our school for five years and a teacher in the M. E. Sunday school several years. The school attended in a body. She was the eldest daughter of Mrs. Harvey Brown, and nearly 21 years of age." [The Otsego Farmer & Republican (Cooperstown, NY), Jan. 8, 1892, p. 4]
