"Mrs. Ella M. Staley, aged 92, of Schenevus, died June 13, at the McLaud Rest Home in Laurens, following a long illness. Mrs. Staley was born May 13, 1875, in Chaseville, the daughter of Harvey and Helen (Chase) Brown. She was married to Charles Staley on December 2, 1920, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He died November 16, 1962. She graduated from Schenevus Training Class and taught school in Gilbertsville and Schenevus prior to being a clerk in the Schenevus National Bank. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was also town clerk of the town of Maryland for 12 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Schenevus, OES Chapter 138 of Schenevus, having been a charter member for 65 years and a member of the Truth Seekers and the WSCS of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Friday from the Bennett Funeral Home in Schenevus, with the Rev. Lynn Brown, retired Methodist minister, and the Rev. Robert Harris, pastor of the Schenevus Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Schenevus Cemetery." [The Otsego Farmer & Republican (Cooperstown, NY), Thurs., June 22, 1967, Page Two]
