Jack was born November 2, 1925, in Arkansas City, to Ray T. and Ethel M. (Campbell) Alsip. He was reared and educated in the Silverdale area, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1943. Jack served in the United States Navy. Jack married Farrell Marie Rood in 1948, the couple made their home in the Arkansas City area. Jack worked several jobs including for New Era Flour Mill, Henry’s Sporting Goods, and the Cowley County Sheriff’s Department, before owning and operating Miller Oil Company for many years before his retirement. After retirement the couple moved to Branson, Missouri for 15 years and then returned to Arkansas City.
Survivors include his wife, of 67 years, Farrell of the home; a daughter Ronda Bruce of Wichita, a sister Wilma Andrew and a brother Max Alsip both of Silverdale; two grandchildren Ashley Duncan and Kelly Bruce; and one great-grandchild Jacob Bruce.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established with the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
