Born October 10,1913 in Locust Grove, MD, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Lawson Stine and Martha Ellen Poffenberger Stine Violet.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Wilbur Woodrow Baker in 1996.
She was a teacher at Kemp Horn Home, Smithsburg, MD and a Judge of the Washington County Orphans Court for 17 years, retiring in 1994.
She was active in the Degree of Pocahontas, memeber of the South Washington County Democratic Club, the United Womens Democratic Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion of Boonsboro and a Girl Scout Leader.
She is survived by five daughters; Mary E. Butts of Chambersburg, PA, Loretta J. Stotlemyer of Boonsboro, MD, Shirley L. Happ and Betty Lou Kunz of Frederick, MD, and Mary Sue Hamilton of Hagerstown, MD. Four sons, Willis C. Baker and Gary E. Baker of Sharpsburg, MD, Larry D. Baker of Keedysville, MD and David L. Baker of Boonsboro, MD. One half-sister, Gladys Roche of Hagerstown, MD One brother Ernest L. Stine of Hagerstown, MD, Two half-brothers, Clarence Violet of Magansville and Max Violet of St. Thomas, PA; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one dauther, Betty L. Baker Barrett, three sons, Eugene Baker, Lawrence Baker and Franklin J. Baker, Sr. and one grandson, Franklin "Jamie" Baker, one brother Theodore Stine and one-half brother Richard Violet.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 AM at Benevola Unted Methodist Church, Boonsboro, MD. Burial will be in Benevola Cemetery.
