WILLIS CHARLES BAKER, 85, of Sharpsburg, Md., passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, at his home. He was born on June 22, 1932, in Benevola, Md., to the late Wilbur Woodrow and Mary Roxanne Stine Baker. He was the third oldest of 13 children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou McGraw Baker, on Dec. 3, 2009.

He was a 1950 graduate of Boonsboro High School, Boonsboro, Md. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Willis was employed by Hoffman Chevrolet, Hagerstown, Md., for 35 years as the body shop manager until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked for Crawford Insurance Company for 15 years. He previously worked for Bester and Long of Hagerstown. He retired after 40 years as part owner and operator of Pete's Tavern in Sharpsburg. He also owned and operated Sharpsburg Service Center. He was a board member and volunteer with Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg, for many years and spent countless hours working in the cemetery. He was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church. Willis was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 378 BPO Elks and life member of Tribe 155 IORM Boonsboro, Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion, Boonsboro, and IORM 84 Williamsport, Md. He also served 12 years with the town of Sharpsburg as councilman, vice mayor and treasurer and on the Water and Sewer Board and the Board of Zoning Appeals.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Butts of Chambersburg, Pa., sister, Loretta Stottlemyer of Benevola, Md., sister, Shirley Happ of Frederick, Md.; sister, Betty Lou Kunz of Frederick; brother, Larry Baker of Keedysville, Md.; sister, Mary Sue Hamilton of Hagerstown; brother, Gary Baker of Dargan, Md.; brother, David Baker of Benevola; cousin, Gene Grimm of Keedysville; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Barrett; brothers, Franklin J. Baker Sr., Lawrence Baker, and Eugene Baker; and nephew, Franklin J. "Jamie" Baker Jr.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. Military graveside services will be provided by Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion, Boonsboro.
