I don't understand what the records are telling me, but Aloysius McCarthy Social Security application lists John Dougherty and Julia Ford as his parents. Their parents (his grandparents) are not identified. Additionally, another record has an alternate name of James Dougherty listed, which is confusing. Very few records of Aloysius exist. He may have been adopted or may have taken on another name. On his Draft registration card he lists Rev A A Gerhardstein as the person who will always know where he is at. Clearly, there is an issue with his parentage.
