Elmer Alfred Aaseth of Issaquah, passed away on Thursday, October 1st, 2015 at his home, he was 99 years old.

Elmer was born on April 26, 1916 to Elmer and Martha Aaseth in South Dakota. He was the youngest of 5 children. He grew up in Gayville, South Dakota where he attended school. He met his wife, Rhetta from nearby Mission Hill, South Dakota. They both enjoyed going to the dances held in Gayville. After marrying in 1944, being discharged from the Army Air Corp in 1946 and after serving 4 years in World War II, they moved to California. He lived much of his married life in San Mateo, California, where his two daughters were born and raised.

Once Elmer retired from United Airlines in 1978 where he had been had been an airline mechanic since 1946, he and Rhetta moved to Citrus Heights, California to be closer to family members.

Elmer was a kind and caring man who enjoyed volunteering at his church. He made many friends and appreciated the fellowship he found there. After moving to Citrus Heights he also enjoyed helping out at a few local food banks, where Rhetta volunteered as well.

Elmer and Rhetta were fortunate to have done quite a bit of traveling during their long marriage both abroad and within the United States. They met and remained friends with many fellow tourists. A small graveside service is being held on Thursday, October 8th, 2015 at Hillside Cemetery in Issaquah at 11:00 AM.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rhetta and their two daughters, Rhonda of Carmichael, CA and Cheryl of Fall City, WA along with their son-in-law Mike Jenkins. He has two grandchildren.
