Conrad was the son of John and Margaret Hix. He married Minnie Frevert on Sept 12, 1903. They were the parents of Dorothy C, Leola M, Evelyn W, and William F.

Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - January 30, 1958 - Alta - Funeral services for Conrad Hix, 83, who died Sunday in a Cherokee hospital after a brief illness, were held Tuesday in the Jones funeral home.

Mr Hix was born April 18, 1874 in Benton County, Iowa. He had spent 17 years in the home of his daughter, Mrs Evelyn Carter in Alta, and the last two with another daughter, Mrs Leonard Brown in Cherokee.

Survivors are Mrs. Stanley Wilcox, IL, Mrs Brown and Mrs Evelyn Carter; one son, Wiliam Hix of Storm Lake; Mrs Eva Duesenberg of Clear Lake, Iowa.

Burial was in Lake cemetery at Storm Lake. Bearers were Dale Hix, Robert Hix, Kenneth Carter, Warren Hix, Leroy Richardson, Leland Hix.


Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - February 6, 1958 - Alta - Conrad Hix, son of John and Margaret Hix, was born April 18, 1874. He passed away Sunday Jan 26, 1958 at Sioux Valley hospital in Cherokee at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 8 days.

He moved to Odebolt when a child and grew to manhood on a farm at that place. He was united in marriage to Minnie Frevert Sept 12, 1903. To this union were born four children: Mrs Stanley Wilcox of DeKalb, IL; Mrs Leonard Brown of Cherokee; Mrs Evelyn Carter of Alta and William Hix of Storm Lake.

He spent one year in California then returned to Odebolt. In 1910 he moved to Garner, Iowa. In 1911 he moved to a farm west of Storm Lake and lived there until 1914 when he retired and moved to Storm Lake. In 1937 he moved to Alta to make his home with his daughter, Mrs Evelyn Carter. In 1955 he went to Cherokee to live with another daughter, Mrs Leonard Brown, where he made his home the remaining two years of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1926, his mother and father, one sister, and four brothers.

He is survived by his four children, 9 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs Eva Duesenberg of Clear Lake, Iowa.

Funeral services were held in Alta on Tuesday afternoon, Jan 28.
