Funeral services were held Jan. 8, 1953, for Henry Hix at the Odebolt Methodist church at the Odebolt Methodist church with the Rev. W.V. Bell in charge of the services. "Rock of Ages" and "Abide with Me" were sung by Jay Wicker, Ed Korneisel, Ted Meitier and Don Potter. Mrs. William Horstman was the pianist.
Henry Hix, son of John Hix and Margaret Reutzel Hix, was born at Odebolt, May 30, 1876, and died at his home Jan. 6, 1953, having reached the age of 75 years, 7 months and 7 days. He received his education in the rural schools.
On Jan. 6, 1909, he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Buehler. They established their home on a farm north of Odebolt. In September of 1935 they moved to their present home in Odebolt. He was baptized in infancy and became a member of the Methodist church. He served as a member on the board of trustees many years, and has been a loyal and faithful member.
Surviving are his wife, Anna, a son, Marion, daughter-in-law Maxine, of Odebolt, a daughter, Louise, of Des Moines, a a sister, Eva, of Clear Lake, a brother, Conrad, of Alta, and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his twin brother, Edward, two other brothers, George and Charles, and a sister, Caroline.
Burial was in the Odebolt cemetery with Walter Hix, William Hix, Robert Buehler, John B. Buehler, Ray Johnson and Warren L. Hanson as the pallbearers. Mrs. Helen Paul and Mrs. Alvin Krusenstjerna were in charge of the flowers.
Those from a distance that attended the funeral were: Conrad Hix and Mrs. Bob Carter of Alta, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dusenberg, Marshalltown, Mrs. Josie Hix and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Harlan Hinkeldey of Aurelia, Mr. and Mrs. William Kuehl and Mrs. Emil Ihrke of Window, Minn., Alfred and Raymond Kuehl of Storden, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Dave Edgar of Arthur, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Meyer and George Meyer of Sac City, Mrs. Ralph McIntire of Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. William Bennon and A.G. Yates of Des Moines.
