Born in Vance County on June 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Twisdale and Josephine Hope Twisdale.
Mrs. Yancey was a homemaker and a member of Gillburg United Methodist Church where she was a former member of the church choir for many years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Gillburg United Methodist Church by the Rev. Calvin Dickenson and the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Chester Jordan Yancey of the home; one daughter, Barbara Y. Ayscue of Henderson; four sons, Kenneth Yancey and wife, Joette T., of Henderson, Dennis Yancey and wife, Fern, of Candor, Earl Yancey and wife, Wendy, of Scott Depot, W.V., and Chester Lee Yancey and wife, Deborah of Farmville, Va.; one brother, James Twisdale of Henderson; one sister-in-law, Judy Twisdale of Henderson; 11 grandchildren, Julie Gibson, Anthony Ayscue, Lisa Dickerson, Scott Yancey, Jordan Yancey, LuAnn Yancey, Shelby Yancey, Rebecca Yancey, Teresa Crommer, Michelle Yancey and Michael Yancey; four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Heather, Matt and Lucas; and one great-great-grandchild, Jacob.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Yancey; and a son-in-law, Perry Ayscue.
