On the 3rd April 1941 when on route from Baltimore - Halifax - Leith in Convoy SC-26 carrying a cargo of 7,144 tons of scrap iron when she was torpedoed by German submarine U-73 and sunk SW of Reykjavik. 34 crew members and one gunner lost. "
