BOSSIER CITY, LA - Esther Mae Brown Barksdale, age 85 of Bossier City passed away on
October 13, 2015. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:00 P.M.
with graveside services held following at 2:00 P.M. at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
She was born in State Line, Mississippi on November 14,1929. Esther graduated from
State Line High School as Valedictorian and received her RN Degree from Charity Hospital School of Nursing.
She was married to Aaron A. Barksdale on September 14,1953. She was preceded in death by Aaron in 2014. Esther's passion
for geriatric care proved to be her calling. She served Pilgrim Manor for many years and spent the last 9 years as a special patient.
She was survived by two sons, Darryll Barksdale and his wife Marcia from Ocean Springs, MS and Steve Barksdale and his wife
Jamie from Athens, TX; three grandchildren, Aaron Barksdale and wife Jessica, Dawson Barksdale and wife Kali, and Darby Barksdale;
three great grandchildren, Skylor, Aubrie, and Landri.
In lieu of flowers, family request memorial contributions be made to UMHB School of Nursing, 900 College Street Belton, TX 76513.
