The death at Pe Ell of Silas Sage, one of the pioneers of western Lewis county, occurred Thursday, February 23, following an extended illness.
Mr. Sage was 72 years of age and had lived in that section since the early nineties. Up to a few months ago he was actively engaged in business in Pe Ell, but was obliged to retire because of ill health.
He leaves three sons, Oliver, Ellis and Henry Sage, and five daughters, Mrs. Eugene How'd, Mrs. H. Arrington, Mrs. Clyde Erwin and Misses Olive and Ella Sage.
Rev. J. W. Black officiated at the funeral which was held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church at 2 o'clock.
