Virginia "Jennie" (Taylor) Woodruff was born on November 26, 1872 in Cheatham County, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of John "Edward" Taylor (1835–1906) and his wife Mary Catherine Harrison (Cullum) Taylor (1842–1912).
She was married to Wellington Woodruff (ca 1871–1897), the son of John Woodruff (ca 1829– ) and Mary Ann ( -- ) Woodruff (ca 1830– ). Jennie and Wellington had no known children.
Living at 1508 16th Avenue North, Nashville, Davidson County, she was 68 years old and a widow when she died of bronchopneumonia on December 17, 1940 at Nashville General Hospital where she had been for a week. Burial was the next day in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
