On Sunday, 04 October 2015, Nettie (Baker) Floyd Palmer, 92 years old, passed away in Jamestown, California.
She was born on Thursday, 30 November 1922 in Ada, Oklahoma and was the daughter of James Cecil Baker and Gracie Baker, the third of 12 children.
In 1940 Nettie married Walter Franklin Floyd, a few years after her sister, Vera married Walter’s brother, Lidie Floyd.
They had their first daughter, Franklin Sue Floyd, in 1944, while Walter was serving in World War II.
In 1945 Nettie, her parents, and nearly all of her siblings moved to Modesto, California in an effort to improve her father’s health.
Walter joined them after the war and in 1947 they had a second daughter, Sarah Beatrice Floyd.
Walter passed away in Modesto, California in 1972.
Nettie moved to Jamestown in 2002 after the death of her second husband, Harold T. Palmer.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by daughters, Franklin Sue (Floyd) Lopez and Sarah Beatrice (Floyd) Williams, her step sons, Leon Palmer and Steve Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Cecil Baker and Gracie Baker, first husband, Walter Franklin Floyd, and her second husband, Harold T. Palmer and is buried next to both of her husbands in the Pioneer Cemetery in Modesto, California.
