OBIT: Ed Matson, 95, a former Osseo resident, passed away January 5, 1974 at the Sunset Nursing Home in Fairchild. He had been a former resident at the Floyd Dahl Nursing Home in Whitewater for 8-1/2 years. After fracturing his hip he was transferred to La Crosse Lutheran Hospital and passed away at the Sunset Home. He was born August 25, 1878, at Taylor, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Matson. He married Jospehine September 29, 1908. She preceded him in death Oct 22, 1964. They farmed in the Taylor area and in 1916 they purchased a farm east of Blair. In 1942 they sold their farm and then moved to Osseo where he was fieldman for the Osseo Canning Company. When in the Blair area he served as a Supervisor on the Town Board of Preston for many years. Survivors include a son, Ardell, of Blair, Wis., 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and seven several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, Freeman, Erwin and Earl. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Oftedahl Funeral Chapel. Rev. Walker conducted the funeral rites with burial in the Osseo Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arland Matson, Richard Matson, Robert Matson, Lyle Drusch, Lyman Odegaard, and George Walters.
