He finished pilot training in 1916 and ended WWI as Squadron Leader of the 5th Combat Wing of the OKL. He was Chief of Affairs of Hermann Goering’s Luftwaffe RLM until 1943, then Commanding General of Air Region Holland until 1944, and finally Commanding General of Air Region Vienna until his capture by American Forces in 1945. He was released in 1947.
