Ersilia Goretti-Porfidi was born in Colle Maize in the town of Paliano, in the Lazio Region of the Province of Frosinone on February 23, 1898.

She is the younger sister of Roman Catholic Saint Maria Teresa Goretti.

Ersilia, like her sister Teresa, thanks to the efforts of Don Romolo Allegrini, was placed in an orphanage, in the Zoccolette in Rome on February 28, 1903.

She was in such shock after seeing her sister Maria brought out on the stretcher on the day she was attacked, July 5, 1902, she had developed serious eye disorder and she had to undergo major surgery.

In 1907, she reunited with his sister Teresa in the orphanage in Grottaferrata.

In 1918, she had come of age and was able to move back to Corinaldo where she married Euliano Porfidi on June 29, 1922. He was a professional mason.

The young couple went to live in Borgo Mazzini 11 having three sons Charles, Piero and Mirka.

Ersilia died on August 21, 1981 in Genoa, Italy.
