He married his 1st wife Jane Esther Mercure on October 17th 1959 in Winooski, Vermont. Together they had three children; two daughters and one son.

He married his 2nd wife Janice "Jan" E. (Jenkins) Gibson on November 3rd 1984 in White River Junction, Vermont. They celebrated 31 years together and gained a 2nd son.

RICHMOND, VT. - Walter "Red" Whalen Aldrich, age 80, of Richmond, passed away on October 27th 2015 at the Respite House in Williston, Vt.

He was born on April 10th 1935 in Burlington, Vt., he was the son of Robert Perry and Katherine Alberta (Horner) Aldrich.

Red drove for Vermont Transit Bus Line and retired after 37 years.

Red could tell you how to get to any place in New England, using route and road names as well as landmarks.

Red loved to be outside mowing his lawn, working in his woodshop, and building puzzles.

He was predeceased by his father; Robert Aldrich, one brother; Robert Aldrich of San Antonio, Texas, two sisters; Alberta (Aldrich) Barrett of South Burlington, Vt. and Beverly (Aldrich) Flynn of Winooski, Vt., one stepsister; Helen Spears, and one stepbrother; Earl "Bud" Flanders.
