Violet M. King, 85, formerly of Lomira, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Oak Park Place in Baraboo.

Violet was born on May 16, 1930, in Waukesha, the daughter of the late William and Clara (Zieher) Otto. She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1948 and started working at a CPA in Waukesha. Violet also played saxophone in her parents Orchestra in and around the Waukesha Area. Violet married Robert F. King on January 14, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha.

After their first child was born Violet said "I got the best job in the world, a stay at home mom." Violet and Robert were blessed with four more children. In 1965 they moved to Lomira and owned King's Trading Post. After selling the store Violet and Robert moved to Washburn, WI, for a year and a half, then they returned to Lomira where they lived the next 37 years on Sunrise Avenue.

Violet was a long time member of St. John's Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the election board for the Village of Lomira for over 30 years.

Violet and Robert enjoyed spending their winter months in Galveston, Texas during their retirement years. Their greatest joy though was spending time with their family, especially attending their grandchildren's sporting events. Family was the greatest joy of all.

Those Violet leaves behind to cherish her memory include five children, Karen Fochs of Fond du Lac, Jeff (Patty) King of Campbellsport, Laurie Stirmel of Brooksville, Florida, Lisa (Kay) King of Reedsburg and Jim (Gwen) King of Lomira; 11 grandchildren, Kristy (Greg) Bintzler, Kourtney Fochs, Kelly (Scott) Hodgden, Ben, Adam (Janelle) and Bill King, Stacey (Steve) Kane, Susie Stirmel, Aaron, Jordan and Caleb King; ten great-grandchildren, Malenka Bintzler, Aidan and Ethan Hodgden, Colin, Chase, Abram, Landon and Noah King, Kyle and Valerie Kane; a brother, Allen Otto of Bloomington; a sister-in-law, Bev King of Merrill; her faithful dog and cat, Jake and Kitty Cat, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Violet was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Fochs; two brothers-in-law, Bud (Mae) King and Al King and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Otto and Lorraine Paroubek.

Funeral services for Violet will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira. Rev. Matthew Kiecker will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The King family will greet relatives and friends at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
