Helen was born April 19, 1925, in Mattituck to Xenia (Labiak) and Theador Nawrocki. She graduated Mattituck High School and after graduation was employed at the Roy Reeve Insurance Agency, where she enjoyed working for many years alongside her best friend Elsie Jones.
Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Leon Lessard in 1971 and her second husband, David “Stan” Raynor in 2005. Surviving Helen are her two sons David Lessard (Kelly) and Thomas Lessard (Sandy); five granddaughters, Brooke, Cassidy, Jamie, Joslyn and Kristy; three stepchildren, David Raynor II, Cathy McGeary and Susan Northridge and five step-grandchildren, David III, Sarah, Michael, Emily and Annie.
Helen. affectionately known as “GMA,” was a devoted family woman. She was loved by many for her great cooking, conversation ability, amazing memory of local history and infectious smile and laughter. She will remain forever in our hearts.
The family welcomed friends Oct. 16 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 17 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck. Interment followed at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
