Addie Batts, Colored Servant, Buried Here
Addie Battes, colored servant, who worked for many Gonzales prominent families, died here on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and was buried Friday Nov. 11.
She was 48 years old and was an outstanding worker in the negro church here. Sometime ago she was sent to a colored church conference at Praitie View by the congregation of the First Presbyterian church here in recognition of her work among the negroes.
Six months ago she was taken to San Antonio by a white friend for an operation in an attempt to prolong he life.
