Graduated from Davidson College and the Theological Institute of Columbia, South Carolina. In 1861 he entered the Confederate service as Chaplain to the 4th Georgia Regt. from which he transferred to Cobb's Legion and afterwards to Howell Cobb's Brigade. After the war he resumed his pastorate at Milledgeville and in 1869 married Miss Mary Orme. He moved to New Orleans, Clarksville,
Tennessee, Mobile, and Cape Girardeau, Mo.
