He was born October 13, 1943 and was the son of the late Jim and Mildred Rabb. He retired from J.C. Cowan - Burlington Industries with 32 years of service; and also retired from Rutherford County Schools. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bostic, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and usher. He had served on the Bostic Town Council, was an auxillary member of Rutherford County Rescue Squad, a past member of Bostic Volunteer Fire Department, First Responders and EMT coordinator. James enjoyed hiking, biking, and running.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lois Ross Rabb; one son, Tim Rabb and his wife Tammy of Swannanoa; two granddaughters, Katie Rabb and Caroline Rabb of Swannanoa; two sisters, Hazel Abernathy of Cliffside and Diane Dunagan of Forest City; a brother, Roger Rabb of Forest City.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 15, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Bostic. Rev. Dean Sisk, Rev. Frank Hoyle, and Rev. Clay Earle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM Wednesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
