Son of William F Bowman and Emma
Orleans County Monitor(Barton, Vermont), December 12, 1881: "We are pained to learn that Frank Bowman, only son of W.F. Bowman, formerly of Newport, was suffocated by escaping gas in Burlington last Tuesday night. Frank went to bed as usual and turned off hte gas, but a defect in the pipe allowed sufficient to escape to fill the room and cause the death of the boy. He was 18 years of age, and much beloved by all. A few years since Mr. Bowman came near losing his own life in a gas explosion at Newport."
The St. Johnsbury Caledonian (St. Johnsbury, Vermont), on December 09, 1881, reported that Frank was 16 years old. On December 14, 1881, the Green-Mountain Freeman (Montpelier, Vermont) stated Frank was 17 years old.
