Mrs. Ada Byers
Saybrook – Mrs. Ada Byers, 89, died at the Gibson Community Hospital Saturday (March 30, 1957) at 7:45 a.m. after an illness of five weeks.
Her funeral will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Eastbrook Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Webb officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will begin today at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Byers was born September 9, 1867, at Fairbury, a daughter of J.F. and Louisa Davis Cooper. She taught school for four years. She was married to Richard Travis December 5, 1888. They farmed near Fairbury until Mr. Travis died in 1891. She then was married to Nelson Byers on June 24, 1908 at Saybrook. She has lived since that time in Saybrook. Mr. Byers died in December 1941.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Dozier of Saybrook; one son, Elwyn Byers, Farmer City; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
She was a member of the Saybrook Christian Church.
