Dorothy Long, 86, of Lizton, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008. She was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Raccoon, Indiana, to the late Cecil Verlin Maddox and Betty Frazier Maddox.
Mrs. Long was a member of the Lizton Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, N.A.P.S. League and Lizton Lions. She worked as a Postmaster in Advance and Lizton.
Surviving are sons, Bus and Al Long; daughter, Sue Abston; brothers, Joe and Bob Maddox; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darol Long; brothers, Frank and Cecil Maddox; and sisters, Evelyn Purdue and Hazel Benge.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Jamestown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Porter Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Ponchot officiating. Interment will follow at the Jamestown I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Jamestown.
