Ruth Bahr Koehler, age 93; Resident of Hinsdale, formerly of Appleton and Green Bay, Wisconsin; beloved wife of Robert A. Koehler; loving mother of Lisa (Charles) Parks and Deborah (Daniel) Clarke; cherished grandmother of Charles Parks, Christopher Parks and Daniel Clarke; dear sister of Vernon (Donna) Bahr, Roderick (Grace) Bahr, Nadine (David) Ross, Maureen (the late Gary) Foster and the late Elwood Bahr; fond cousin and aunt to many nieces and nephews; preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Mary Bahr. Ruth received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the U of Wisconsin Whitewater in 1944 and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Sorority. She taught for several years in the New London and Mishicot school systems before moving to Milwaukee in 1948 to assume a position with the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In 1951 she joined the old 1st Wisconsin National Bank in Milwaukee as a loan officer, until she resigned in 1954 when she and her husband started raising their family. When her husband was transferred to Fairlawn, NJ in 1966 she returned to teaching in the Woodcliffe Lake, NJ school system. While in that system she planned and organized a typewriting program at the 8th grade level, for which she received national recognition by being selected for citation in the 1975 edition of Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America. In 1975 she and her family returned to Wisconsin, and lived in Green Bay and Appleton until 2007, at which time she and her husband relocated to the Chicago area to be near family. Visitation Sunday, November 8th, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 South Grant St., Hinsdale. Entombment Monday, November 9th, Family and Friends will meet for a 1:00 PM Interment Service at Nicolet Memorial Gardens Chapel, Green Bay, Wisconsin.
