April 22, 1812 Wednesday - “ Ordered by the Court that letters of Administration ___ on the Estate of John Jarret, Dec’d to Robert Lee, who came into Court and entered into bond of one thousand pounds with Alexander Ferguson & John Barrington and was qualified according.”

The List of Children authorized by Elias and John Plott, Executors of George and Margaret’s Estates is documentation of the Jarrett boys/men being brothers, being sons of Sophia & John Jarrett, and being nephews of Daniel Plott. As John Jarrett (Jr.) was recorded on the 1820 Cabarrus County, North Carolina Census and William Jarrett married Hannah Miller-Seavers on March 4, 1821 in County of Lawrence, Arkansas, it is believed that the Jarrett boys moved to Arkansas between the 1820 Census enumeration date of August 7, 1820 to March 4, 1821, William and Hannah’s marriage. Also, Anthony married Polly/Mary Ann Rogers on January 18, 1824

John Jarrett died without a Last Will and Testament. The was reported in the Randolph County, Arkansas Probate Court readings. Here are a couple of references to John’s death include the guardianship of his children.

“Jacob Wallace, Adm of Jn. Jarrett … State of Arkansas, County of Randolph. This day personally appeared Jacob Wallace … that John Jarrett Late of said County Deceased without making any last will and testament … that he left the following named Children: Joseph Jarrett, Polly Jarrett, John Franklin Jarrett, William Jarrett, Elias Martin Jarrett, & Matilda Jarrett … this 27th Oct. 1838.“ It is presume that this list of children was written in chronological order of birth, unless records prove differently. Arkansas records, 1837-1852 volume 1-2, page 33 and 34.

“Ordered by the Court that Jacob Wallace is appointed Guardian for three minor heirs of John Jarrett Dec’d. (To wit) William J. Jarrett, Martin E. Jarrett & Matilda Jarrett all residents of Riply County & State of Missouri and Accordingly Entered into bod & security.” “Probate Court Monday 3rd day of Court 1839.” Arkansas records, 1837-1852 volume 1-2, page 26. Other references of Jacob Wallace being guardian to John’s children (William, Martin & Matilda) are on pages 38, 67, 90, 144, 166, 184, 234, and 235.

A search of land records, military records, probate court records, administration records, census, List of Children for George & Margaret Plott, etc. finds no middle initial or middle name for William Jarrett, son of Sophia Plott and John Jarrett.

“Affidavit, State of Arkansas, County of Randolph. I, Hanah Jarrett, do solemnly swore that the value of the estate of William Jarrett deceased, who died intestate upon whose estate I have proper letters of administration is not to the best of my knowledge and belief more than nine thousand one hundred dollars thus said William Jarrett died without making a will, leaving as his only heirs, to wit, Henry C. It is noted that a William Jarrett witnessed George Plott’s Last Will and Testament. It is unknown if said William Jarrett is Sophia’s son or not; or perhaps, an in-law. William would have been about 19 years old.

Born in presumed Cabarrus County, NC c 1800 from the 1830 Census age report and from the fact that father’s Last Will and Testament was mentioned in the Cabarrus County, North Carolina Pleas and Commons.
Died in c 1836 from Last tax list record was in 1835 for Anthony. Currently, he is not found on the 1840 Census.
