Marie S. Slacanin, 79, of 2150 Davis St. in Whiting, Indiana died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 1990 at St. Margaret's Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana.
She was born September 8, 1911 in Streator, a daughter of Michael Sr. and Anna (Mehall) Novak. She married Steve Slacanin on August 17, 1940 at St. Stephen's Church in Streator. He survives.
Also surviving are a son: James Slacanin; two granddaughters; sisters: Sophie (Joseph) Maty of Whiting, Indiana and Elsie (Frederick) Kantt of Streator; and a brother: Michael Novak Jr. of Prescott, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, four sisters, and two brothers.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Whiting.
