Margit Mark

Mrs. John (Margit) Mark was born January 22, 1883 in Norway, the daughter of the late Ole Aasen and Ingeborg Aasen. She came with her parents at age 3 to America and the Hatton community. She attended rural school and grew to womanhood in Newburgh Township in Steele County. She married John Mark on October 12, 1903 at the Goose River Church. The couple farmed and lived in Newburgh Township until moving to Hatton in 1945. He died in 1952 and she continued to make her home in Hatton. She became a resident at the Tri-County Nursing Home in 1975 and there entered into rest on March 14th [1084] She was a lifelong member of the Goose River Congregation and an honorary member of its ALCW.
She is survived by 1 son, John, of Seattle, Wash., 3 daughters, Mrs. Grace Grindeland of Fargo, Mrs. Mayme Kjorlien of Mandan, and Mrs. Ingebret (Gertrude) Sondreal of Northwood, 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Goose River Lutheran Church, rural Hatton, with Pastor Perry Wm. Bell officiating. The organist was Mrs. T.J. Thompson and the soloist was Mrs. Adeline Grindeland. The casketbearers were Earl Aasen, Robert Aasen, LeRoy Beck, Glenn Berg, Clarence Aasen and Ralph Thompson. Committal services were held in the church. The Arnett Funeral Home, Hatton, was in charge of arrangements. – Hatton Free Press, March 21, 1984
