Funeral services were held last Saturday for Gilbert O. Aasen of the Mayville community, who passed away on Tuesday, October 7th, after a long illness. Services were held in the First American Lutheran church with Rev. T.N. Teiger of Sioux Falls, S.Dak., and Rev. Robert Preus officiating. Burial was in the Mayville cemetery.
Mr. Aasen was born near Hatton on November 4, 1887, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole Aasen, and grew to manhood here. In 1919 he moved to Lindaas township where he had farmed ever since. He was united in marriage to Josephine Coltom on November 6, 1910 at the Beaver Creek Lutheran church.
Survivors include his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Ellingrud, Mrs. Theo Fiskum and Donna; six sons, Gilman, Orlo, Carl, Earl, Ernest and Marlowe all of the Mayville community, and several grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers, Knute Aasen of Hatton, Bernard Aasen of Hensel, Louis Aasen of Grand Forks and George Aasen of Cavalier, and two sisters, Mrs. John Mark and Mrs. Oscar Eide, both of Hatton.
