SUNBURY, Pa., Jan. 31. -
A speeding passenger train leaped its rails late last night and plunged from an over-pass onto a highway, killing three and unjuring 32. No persons on the train escaped unhurt.
Wreckage was scattered along the highway for 50 yards and it was hours before rescue crews from Sunbury had carried all the injured to the hospitals.
The dead were:
Dr. Guy Rothfuss, 32, Williamsport.
Engineer William Ramp, Tamaqua, Pa.
Fireman Washington Danshaw, Tamaqua.
The train was the "Williamsporter," a Reading limited, en route from Williamsport to New York City. Its 28 passengers included 12 students of Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., en route to their homes for brief vacations.
