John M. Cundiff, 84 years of age, of North College Street in Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday night, May 21, 1944 at his home.

He had been ill for approximately seven years, being confined to his home for most of the time. He was a native of the Caney Fork section of Pulaski County, Kentucky, born on January 6, 1860, a son of the late Galen E. Cundiff and Sabra Love Cundiff. He was engaged in farming most of his life and moved to the Somerset area about 1919. For many years he was a janitor at the First Christian Church. He had been a member of the Christian Church for many years and regularly attended church as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed taking an active part in church work. He was a elder at the time of his death. John was a good citizen, a loyal friend and leves a host of friends who mourn his passing.

He was survived by his wife, Ethel Day Cundiff; a daughter, Mrs. Luther Haney of Somerset, Kentucky; three sisters, Mrs. Dan Dutton and Miss. Susie Cundiff, both of Somerset, Kentucky and Mrs. Elizabeth Haworth of Gunter, Texas; and a brother, W.G. Cundiff of Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 1944 at his residence with Rev. Lee Davis Fisher officiating. Burial followed in the Somerset City Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.

THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF JOHN,

If you could see me now you wouldn't shed a tear, Though you may not understand why I'm no longer there. Remember my spirit, that is the real me because I'm still very much alive, I've just been set free. Oh, if you could only see!

I have held our Father's face and I've touched my Savior's hand. All of Heaven's angels rejoiced as I entered the promised land. Beyond the gates of pearl I've walked on the golden streets.

I've touched the walls of jasper and dipped my foot in the crystal sea. The beauty is beyond words and nothing could compare, I've even seen our Lords mansion and someday I'll meet you there. Let Jesus be your guide because "His Word" will show you the way. So please don't cry because we will meet again someday.
